Mr. Jeffrey R. Stegall, 76, of Knoxville, Illinois died 9:54 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2023, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.
He was born November 21, 1946, in Galesburg Illinois to Philip and JoAnne (Babbitt) Stegall. He married Cheryl Kern on July 6, 1968, in Galesburg.
He is survived by his wife of over 54 years, Cherrie Stegall of Knoxville, his son, Brett (and Becky) of Kewanee, Illinois his daughters, Bridgett (and Gary) Cameron of Abingdon, Illinois and Amber (and Brent) Pegram of North Barrington, Illinois, his grandsons Trevor (and Kayla Stover), Tyler (and Chloe), Wyatt, Aiden, Madden and Maverick and one sister Jenny (and Roger) Frazier of Galesburg. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather.
Jeff graduated from Galesburg High School in 1964. He worked at Maytag Manufacturing Company in Galesburg for 35 years until he retired. Then he worked at thingy Blick Art Materials for many years. In more recent years, he was very proud of his mowing and yardwork business around the neighborhood.
Jeff, most commonly known as “Pops” to his family, loved woodworking, gardening, mowing yards, and hanging out with his friends. He loved to decorate his yard for holidays and was known in his community for his lavish displays. He was so proud of his family and loved to brag about his grandsons and children. He loved to sit in his recliner and watch the Cubbies.
The visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday April 14, 2023, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel.
